Gold burger
As part of our Olympics 2024 recipe series, we have a recipe worthy of an Olympic Gold Medal. This hearty burger is the perfect pairing with fries and salad to take your midday meal to an Olympic feast.

Ingredients for patty
800g minced steak
1 egg
1/2 chopped onion
2x garlic cloves chopped
3g thyme
25g natural breadcrumbs
Pinch sea salt
Other ingredients
4x Seeded charcoal or brioche buns
8x Slices Monterey jack cheese
100g Dill gherkins
60g Jalapenos
100ml burger sauce
4x portion French fries
The method
1. Cook onion until soft add the; mince, garlic, egg, thyme, breadcrumbs and sea salt.
2. Mix together and make 8 4inch round burgers, put to one side.
3. Char-grill burgers or pan fry until 3/4 cooked.
4. Place cheese onto burgers and stack two together.
5. Place in oven to melt the cheese and finish cooking.
6. Slice buns in half then toast.
7. To assemble, add gherkins onto bottom of the bun, place on burgers then top with jalapenos and burger sauce and top of bun.
Serve with fries and your favourite sauce. Enjoy!
