Seven Ways to Mark National Best Friend Day

On Monday 8th of June, 12 lucky tombola bingo winners and their best friends are heading down to London for the Loose Women luncheon to celebrate National Best Friend Day. If you aren’t one of the finalists, then fear not: we’ve teamed up with some of our favourite bloggers to provide you with some inspiration!

  1. Take up a new hobby

Best Friend Day could be the perfect time to take up a new hobby or sport that you’ve never tried before. Going along with your best friend will boost your confidence and, even if you’re both struggling to pick it up, you can definitely guarantee a few laughs out of it!

  1. Bake something epic

Why don’t you and your best friend don your aprons and challenge yourself to bake something adventurous? You can both play Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood for the day before enjoying your home-baked goods with a warming cup of tea, afterwards.

  1. Treat yourselves

Getting glammed up and treating yourself to a fancy dinner or a pretty cocktail at your favourite restaurant can be a great way to break up the week. Plus, it’s an excellent setting for having a laugh with your best pal.

  1. Picnic in the park

According to the calendar, it’s now officially summer, and with a heatwave on the cards, it could be the perfect day to head down to your nearest green spot with your bestie. Grab some snacks and take in the scenery with your best buddy.

  1. Have a cosy night in

It might sound cliché, but when was the last time you got together with your best friend, a bottle of wine and a good film? We can often get carried away with catching up on the practical side of things when we get together with our BFFs, but making a proper night of it can help distract you from the day-to-day conversations. Grab a couple of face masks and have a pamper session, or dig out an old photo album of you both and reminisce about old times.

  1. Throw a virtual party

We aren’t all lucky enough to live near our friends, but Lorna from LC’s Closet has the perfect solution:

“I think a great way to celebrate National Best Friend Day is to have a Skype party. A lot of my best friends are based all around the world, so we don’t get to see each other too often. Skype is the best way to keep in touch, so to celebrate Best Friend Day you could have a group Skype call with all of your friends. It will (almost) feel like you are all together.”

  1. Meaningful mail

Erin, from Yorkshire Tots, suggested sending your bestie something to show your appreciation:

“As much as I would love to celebrate National Best Friend Day with my best friend, she lives too far away. I am going to send her a card telling her how much she has added to my life, along with a gift certificate to a cafe in the town where we’re from (which I’m hoping we can use together on my next visit!). I can’t think of the last time I sent a card that wasn’t for someone’s birthday… and who doesn’t love to get a surprise in the post?”
