It was with heavy hearts that we learned Lynda Bellingham had, sadly, passed away. Her agent, Sue Latimer, has released a statement stating that Lynda has “died peacefully in her husband’s arms” – a small comfort, given Lynda’s brave decision to stop chemotherapy in order to spend more time with her friends and family.
Witty, honest and determined right until the end, Lynda touched the hearts of many during both her time as part of the Loose Women team, and in her many television roles. From All Creatures Great and Small to Doctor Who: the Trial of a Time Lord and Sweeney!, she gave her all to her parts and quickly became a treasured actress.
The role she will perhaps be most fondly remembered for, however, is her role as a Loose Women presenter. Lynda presented the show alongside Andrea McLean from 2007 – 2011, lighting up the set with her quick wit, intelligence and huge sense of fun. She debated passionately about the issues she believed in and never failed to make her fellow Loose Women smile, seeing her become one of the programme’s most popular presenters.
It’s safe to say that Lynda will be very sorely missed – our thoughts go out to her family.
Lynda filmed her final appearance on Loose Women last week, and this special programme will air on 22nd October 2014.
